Positioning a Followspot Correctly
Followspots are positioned at the rear of the audience (rear-of-house) or from the side balcony. The key factors:
- Throw distance: measure from the followspot position to the centre of the stage
- Angle: 30–45° vertical angle from horizontal is ideal — too steep creates flat top-lighting, too shallow creates glare for the audience
- Power access: 13A (575W models) or 16A (1.2kW models) near the followspot position
